May is Military Appreciation Month, a time when we honor the service and sacrifice of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Space Force and National Guard, as well as the contributions of their families. Memorial Day is May 31st, and it is the unofficial kickoff of summer. It’s also important to remember and observe Armed Forces Day May 15th and Military Spouse Appreciation Day May 7th.
During this special month of tribute to those who serve and have served, we’re highlighting how HomeTeam celebrates, honors and supports veterans throughout the year. We appreciate their service!
It is our ongoing privilege to support troops on the front line through Operation Servant Heart, our partnership with Support Our Troops to supply care packages to active military. Each month, HomeTeam branches across the U.S. collect and ship items most needed by serving military personnel, such as black boot socks and baby wipes. In addition to necessities, HomeTeam employees also send thank you notes and cards. We’re committed to fulfilling this initiative through at least September and are proud of our contribution to the organization. In 2019, Support our Troops donated more than $69 million worth of goods and services, with 97 percent of its resources going to program goods and services for troops and their families.
We also partner with the U.S. Army by joining the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS), an organization that helps soldiers prepare for a civilian career by connecting them with employers who understand the skills, discipline and work ethic that military service members bring to business.
Referring to HomeTeam’s veteran initiatives, veteran and Houston West Branch Service Manager Clarence Goff said, “Receiving support while actively serving reminds military men and women that people at home are grateful for their dedication and willingness to fight for freedom.”
With veterans making up at least 8% of our workforce, recruiting veterans is a priority for us. One of HomeTeam’s core values is commitment to serving others, and veterans exemplify this by the very nature of enlisting. Veterans serve at all levels of the company and have the opportunity to serve as pest control technicians, in sales roles, as managers, and in senior leadership positions. In fact, our current vice presidents of sales and technical services have both served in the military. To learn more about HomeTeam positions for veterans, check out the Veterans Hiring home page.
During Military Appreciation Month, and throughout the year, don’t forget to thank and honor those who have served. A great way to do that is through the nonprofit organization A Million Thanks, which sends thank you letters directly to U.S. troops around the world. To date, they have distributed more than 7 million letters.
Remember, if you’re ever in need of a trusted pest control service, HomeTeam and its team of trusted experts and pest professionals can help. Visit www.pestdefense.com or call 855-855-4873.
