Scientists are now using genetically modified mosquitoes to combat their own species. Recently, to neutralize dengue and chikungunya viruses, genetically modified mosquitos were developed to mage with unaltered mosquitoes. The process they used was similar to how “Jurassic Park” scientists created their dinosaurs.

As the threat of these viruses continues to spread in the U.S. and throughout the world, scientists will continue to work hard to create new ways to eradicate mosquitoes and keep their growing populations under control.
