Each November since 1996, the President signs a proclamation declaring National Veterans & Military Families Month. With hundreds of thousands of service members deployed overseas, recognizing their daily sacrifices is always important.
HomeTeam has a long commitment to supporting veterans through multiple initiatives, but you may not know we also actively recruit veterans and have many veterans on our team.
U.S. Marine Veteran Kevin Nash, a service manager in our Naples branch who has been with us for 16 years, bravely served in an infantry battalion on the frontlines of Iraq. When he returned to the states, Kevin endured multiple surgeries and was looking for a stable job. He started out as a HomeTeam technician and moved up our ranks to field supervisor and then service manager. Regarding his transition from the military to civilian life with HomeTeam, Kevin noticed lots of similarities between the two organizations in terms of structure, teamwork, and camaraderie. He said, “I have hired quite a few veterans who are working for me here. HomeTeam is a great company, and we do really value our veterans and believe in hiring and supporting them in any way that we can.”
U.S. Army Veteran Adam Davis is a sales representative for our San Antonio Central branch. When he first joined HomeTeam, he had just left the service and began installing our Taexx networked pest control system, which is built into the walls of a new home during construction. Adam also noticed many parallels between HomeTeam and military life, particularly in terms of leadership styles and team structure. In reflecting on his transition, Adam said, “It was pretty seamless. I feel like I was able to provide for my family while still serving my community, just in a different way. Since a lot of HomeTeam’s staff are veterans themselves, or their family members are veterans, they are not unfamiliar with the struggles that come with military service.”
Another parallel Adam noticed is our Employee Relief Fund, implemented by our parent company, Rollins. Similar to the Army Emergency Relief Fund, HomeTeam employees can donate a portion of their pay each month, which goes into a fund for supporting fellow employees that encounter hardship. “Throughout the company, HomeTeam promotes a culture of having a servant heart. If you are committed to service and serving others, you’ll find a place here,” said Adam Davis.
HomeTeam President Brady Camp said, “During this month of grace, gratitude, and Thanksgiving, it’s important to appreciate and acknowledge the enormous sacrifices made by our military personnel and their families. It’s an honor for us to have so many veterans on our team, and we’ll continue to recruit the best and brightest.”
