HomeTeam Pest Defense Won’t Bug Off When It Comes to the Safety of its Customers and Employees

The month of June is National Safety Month, and the National Safety Council encourages organizations to actively participate in safety-related activities.  Several years ago HomeTeam Pest Defense installed a GPS in each of its company vehicles to track driving behaviors, such as speeding, excessive braking and sharp turns.  Good driving behavior keeps our drivers safe and helps prevent accidents.

HomeTeam Pest Defense practices safety every day of the year. A safety committee consisting of a National Safety Director and 14 safety coordinators are responsible for auditing branches on their safety measures and educating branch employees on a number of safety issues. As a safety coordinator, it is his or her duty to ensure that their respective branches are in compliance with HomeTeam Pest Defense’s policies and practices.  Some of the tasks of the safety zone coordinator include visiting HomeTeam branches and auditing, ensuring policies are in compliance, conducting vehicle inspections, and quality control.

For example, the safety coordinators make sure all drivers are trained using Smith System. This means they have gone through training and have taken classroom-setting courses and actual driving tests to help them become better drivers. The safety coordinators visit a branch quarterly to provide additional training and check adherence.

HomeTeam Pest Defense is a member of the National Pest Management Association and QualityPro. QualityPro is an initiative designed to increase professionalism in the pest management industry. This program certifies companies based on comprehensive standards. Known as “the mark of excellence in pest control,” the QualityPro designation can be achieved by ensuring all employees voluntarily ascribe to standards far above what is required by state and federal regulations.  Several of the QualityPro standards include safety issues such as conducting background checks on all new employees and providing a drug-free work environment. HomeTeam periodically performs drug screening on all employees. Annual DMV checks are conducted. These steps are helpful in instilling confidence in customers.
